Meet our Team

Veterinarians

Dr. Victor Dasaro

Dr. Victor Dasaro is the medical director of NVH. With more twenty years of experience in veterinary medicine, he remains dedicated to the “old style” school of veterinary care. He enjoys interacting with pet owners and their companions. Dr. Dasaro has a special interest in ultrasound, avian, and exotic medicine as well as surgery.

Dr. Erica Harlec

Dr. Erica Harlec graduated from Cornell University’s Veterinary school, and loves working in general practice. She has an interest in geriatric medicine and dental care. Dr. Harlec enjoys rock climbing with her husband and children and spending time with their rescues; a Lab mix named Summer and a cute NVH-adopted cat Huck.

Dr. Ellen Friedman

Dr. Ellen Friedman has been co-owner of NVH since 1993. She has a special interest in geriatric feline practice, although she enjoys caring for her canine patients as well. She also enjoys pocket pet medicine and surgery. She has been married to Dr.Dasaro since 1979 and shares her house with 2 Labs, as well as multiple orange cats and a gray parrot.

Dr Carolyn Steinbeiser

Dr Carolyn Steinbeiser originally from New Hampshire, did her undergrad and tech school at Becker College (Worcester, MA) and worked as a Veterinary Technician in MA then vet school at St. George’s University in Grenada and Clinical year at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Special veterinary interests include: Wildlife and exotic companion animal medicine, surgery and clinical nutrition. Outside of work she enjoys: Traveling, SCUBA diving, cooking and hiking with my dogs. Animals include two Grenadian pothounds, Matilda and Puffin, a cat named Mush and a Turtle named Brick.

Dr. Nicole Toso

Dr. Nicole Toso

Dr. Nicole Toso graduated from Ross university school of Veterinary Medicine and did her clinical rotations at Cornell university. She has a special interest in surgery, but enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine! She enjoys playing video games and spending time with her boyfriend, her dog Zoey, and her cat Albus.

Dr. Megan Presutti

Dr. Megan Presutti graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical rotations at Cornell University. Special interests include emergency medicine/critical care and soft tissue surgery. When not at the hospital, she enjoys gardening, painting, playing guitar and ukulele and spending time with her pup, Levi.

Dr. Katie Clark

Dr. Katie Clark graduated from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical training at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She has a depth of experience in emergency/critical care and a passion for internal medicine. Being an advocate for animals is her top priority. In her free time, Dr. Clark enjoys traveling and live music with her husband. She spends her time exploring the beauty of the Hudson Valley with their six dogs, Whiskey, Bourbon (Beauceron), Nellie (Beagle/Basset), Fiona, Esther (chihuahua/Yorkie), and Timber (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel).

Dr. Andrew Acevedo

Dr. Andrew Acevedo graduated from Cornell University in 2021. He completed a mixed animal internship in Alliance Nebraska, as well as an exotics-focused internship in Bothell, Washington, before settling into his home state of New York.

Management Staff

Dora

Dora has been part of the NVH team since 2006 and is our office manager. You might recognize her as Sally’s care giver. When not taking care of Sally she spends her time with her husband, daughters, and yellow Lab Vienna who she fosters for Guiding Eyes For The Blind.

Melissa

Melissa has been part of the NVH team since May 2006 and is our primary outpatient coordinator. Her love of animals makes this an ideal job for her. Melissa shares her life with her husband, Jimmy, their German Shepherd Raine and their 3 cats, Angus, Sophie & Lou – E. Other than working, Melissa also enjoys hiking, camping and snowmobiling.

Kayla

Kayla, our Hospital Coordinator, is currently wrapping up her Bachelor’s degree in science,  currently enrolled in a veterinary management program, and even plans to pursue a veterinary technician certification. She found her love for the veterinary field when she joined the NVH team in 2021 as a Receptionist and Doctor’s Assistant. Kayla can also be found working at our All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in New Paltz, where she cares for our two hospital cats (who you may see skittering around during your appointment). During her free time, she enjoys spending her time with her husband, their dog, and four cats– three of which she brought home from NVH.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians

Fumi

Fumi is our Veterinary Medicine Researcher who came from Japan and has been with us since May 2005. She earned her B.B.A. in Veterinary Technology Management from SUNY Delhi. Fumi’s numerous research projects are essential to our operations and helps us maintain a state of the art Veterinary Hospital. 

Allison

Allison graduated from the Mercy College Veterinary Technology program. Her passion includes caring for all creatures, great and small, but she does have a special love bond and connection with our petite exotic friends. During her free time, she can be found hiking, running and engaging in various outdoor activities. If it’s a rainy day, she specifically enjoys painting, watching movies and hanging out with both her furry and scaly pets.

Danielle

Danielle has been a veterinary technician since 2009 and holds a special interest in surgery and geriatric patients. Danielle shares a house with her daughter Aubrey and their two cats, Charlie and Maximus. In her free time, Danielle can be found hiking, reading, and cooking.

Reception Staff

Christine

Christine is our spotlight staff member this week. Christine is one of our receptionists, and has been with us for a year. She has 2 dogs; Lilli and Gracie, and 1 cat Olivia. In her spare time she enjoys reading, and is a diehard NY Jets fan.

Fran

Fran has been a part of our team since 2003. Besides working at NVH Fran owns an art business. She also wrote and illustrated a children’s book which was published in 2008. She has 2 cats and a horse.

Veterinary Assistants & Resort

Kim

Kim moved here from Texas and majored in wildlife ecology at LSU. She joined the NVH team in February 2013. Kim enjoys the outdoors, playing the violin and spending time with her kitties.

Donna

Donna majored in environmental science at Nassau Community College. She has worked in the Veterinary Health field for over 26 years. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors with her husband, their horse and mischievous cat. 

Online Pharmacy Specialists

Courtney Kirkland

Courtney oversees the online pharmacy program for our veterinary practice, ensuring clients receive savings, convenience, and peace-of-mind when purchasing medications and products for their pet’s optimal health and wellbeing.

Courtney grew up in Brackettville, Texas. She has 7 years of experience in the veterinary industry working as a vet and kennel technician. She is a certified laser technician and safety specialist and at her prior clinic, she was the on-site laser technician.

In her free time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her three children and their chocolate lab, Creek. She also enjoys reading, cooking and fishing. During the spring, she can be found with her husband on the diamond coaching Little League Baseball.

Brittany Pinto

Brittany oversees the online pharmacy program for our veterinary practice, ensuring clients receive savings, convenience, and peace-of-mind when purchasing medications and products for their pet’s optimal health and wellbeing.Brittany was born to a Puerto Rican and Salvadorian family and raised in Miami, Florida. In 2020, Brittany graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry while on the pre-veterinary track.

Brittany has worked in a shelter clinic, two general practices, and a 24-hour emergency and trauma center for animals. Being in the field for six years, she worked as a kennel assistant, then a technician, a customer service representative, and a patient care coordinator on our team. These roles have molded her into the person she is today: a skilled communicator that connects clients and patients to the best veterinary care.

Even outside of work, Brittany still finds time to volunteer at shelter centers and offer extra hands or donations. A nature lover at heart, she loves hiking, biking, and kayaking and finding hidden spots to relax with her husky, Bleu.
